How to Wash Sublimated Sportswear

Sublimation technology has gained enormous popularity around the globe today. The technology can be employed in a number of applications like printing sportswear, gifts, souvenirs and more.
If you have any sublimated sportswear, it’s important to wash the garment properly. Sublimated garments need to be washed with care so that the vivid colours are intact and the garment looks like new for a long time.



Following are some tips to wash sublimated sportswear in the proper way:

1.       Turn the Outfit Inside Out

When washing a sublimated garment, turn it inside out. This would prevent the design on the garment from being rubbed due to any unnecessary friction.

2.       Use Gentle Washing Cycle

Set your washing machine on gentle washing cycle while washing your sublimated sportswear. This would prevent any damage to the fabric or the printed design and preserve the garment’s quality.

3.       Use Mild Detergent

Use a laundry detergent that’s not harsh. Additionally, don’t bleach your sublimated garment and avoid washing white garments with coloured ones.

Apart from taking precautions while washing sublimated garments, it’s essential to try not to get tough stains on your garments. In case any stains occur, try removing them before they set.

4.       Use Cool Water

Wash your sublimated sportswear in cooler water to minimize fading of colours as well as any other kind of wear that may happen.

Once you have washed your sublimated garments, make sure you remove them from the washer immediately.

After washing, you would need to dry the garments. Here are some drying tips:

·         Hang the garments on plastic or wooden hangers for drying
·         In case you want to machine dry, set for Low Heat or AIR only
·         Remove the garments immediately when the drying cycle is complete

Precautions:

As someone who uses sublimated garments, you need to take several precautions other than those that should be taken while washing. The precautions to take are as follows:
·         Don’t use metal hangers for drying as rust marks may be left by them
·         Don’t use hot water for washing
·         Don’t iron
·         Don’t dry clean
·         Don’t overload the dryer or washer
·         Don’t use fabric softeners

Storage guideline:

Dry your sublimated sportswear completely prior to storing them. Also, store them in a cool, dry space.

With these tips in mind, you can wash your sublimated garments correctly. Make sure you follow the precautions so that your sublimated sportswear retains their quality, colours, and shine for a long time.
